REDDI Tube DI Mega Thread . Potential megathread that is.

My suggestion on this is to stay with the 6N1P...
It was designed for that.
We did try the 6DJ8 and it was in our opinion hash sounding compared to the 6N1P. But we made mods to the PCB in order to try it.
Yes the 12AX7 is in the same family of tubes but NOT for the REDDI.
It wasn't designed for that tube.

Ya, I've always found it best to do what the manufacturer tells you 
I was mainly just interested earning a little more about the 6N1P since I never had any gear that had one. Not a big tube roller, quite honestly. Thanks Peter!

I would stay with the 61NP... Im not a big tube roller. .I tried it with some stuff when people on TB were saying such and such made a huge difference in their amps.. I think they are imagining things honestly.
I agree... To me, tube rolling can make sense in home audio where the environment is much more sterile for listening to music. For live applications, I do not see much use in trying different tubes, particularly for bass. In the studio, I would try a tube just out of curiosity, but I am not sure if it would improve what Peter has picked specifically for REDDI...
Well it's still interesting to discuss, especially since it's a new topic for me.
I do have to clarify that I wasn't thinking about trying a 12AX7 in the REDDI, though
I just happened to mention that the 62NP and the 12AX7 have a lot in common, and wanted to know if the 61NP and 62NP were 100% compatible. I can see that my wording was not good, though. But the only thing I'm going to do with my REDDI is plug my bass into it and I'll leave the geniusing to the geniuses.

Im goig to be using mine on some intimate dates next week with my Genz Benz 500 210 combo that i just received.. The Genz DI is very good.. but the REDDI is for the super critical listeners....

Wow! Guys, you can't even begin to appreciate the REDDI unless you have a B-15 to compare it to 
I've spent a couple hours with it now, and I'm blown away how it cops not only the sound but that tubey smack of a B-15 being DI'd from the speaker out. Has a flatter voicing than a nooned B-15, but that works for a DI, and if you EQ them to sound similar, it's eerie. Can't say I've ever missed out on tone since I've pretty much always had an Ampeg around, but I really should have picked one of these up when I first heard about it. I think the REDDI is going to have fun working with its big brothers

Been trying different stuff with it...(forgive me Peter if you're reading this)...just tried the VT Deluxe with it. Does quite a good job classing up the VT's cleaner sounds, and gives the VT's crank tones a real nice kick in the pants, but the REDDI by itself is THE sound for clean tones and there's no improving on that. That's the kind of clean sound that makes you think twice about putting a dirt pedal on top of it, much like I feel when I play an SVT or B-15. I'm still going to do it, though Just going to be more judicious about it. Thinking about a more transparent splitter with EQ for my upright now, too. The bar for my direct signal just got raised.

The REDDI has only one problem.... and that is, once you get used to it, its impossible to to think about anything but the REDDI.
I have tracked with the VT > REDDI a few times and it makes the VT more realistic..
There is nothing like it...
The REDDI does some cool stuff on recording vocals too.

LMAO!!!! You might be right on that one. I keep asking myself, do I need Reddi or GAS X. Lol
diglo, I'm not one to recommend throwing money at their sound, but man, there is such a clear difference that I might have to change my mind about that. I'm going to post some clips later that compare the REDDI with a speaker DI'd B-15 and a Countryman. The Countryman's a paperweight now unless it's plugged into the B-15's speaker out.
