Heh...I was right. Great job on the REDDI, BTW. Have not played one for myself but I've heard quite a few recordings done with them, and they are stellar sounding. One of the few DI's that I actually like ;)

I picked up one of these used today. Pretty excited about getting to use it. The previous owner suggested putting a new tube in it, i'm assuming it's a 12AU7. Do you know which brand is the best, or which one would be the best to put in it?

You would be wrong by assuming ;) It's a 6N1-P. No idea about which ones are best because I've never owned any gear that used one, but unless the tube audibly sounds bad, the previous owner obviously is not a tube-o-phile. Never change tubes unless they're broken. That's how amp techs get nice collections of tubes.

Ive had mine for about 4-5 years now and its still sounding great...
But i just got this BAC 500 Compressor from A-Design... And using it in my Gig Rig.... Holy Smokes. .FINALLY a real Studio compressor that is easy to use That i would use on a gig and does not loose highs like some of the DBX stuff does... I will post a photo later this week when i pull it out of the truck for a session....

And that is where the REDDI shines. It is a 3D experience... I honestly have used about every DI out there. From Passive, Active, Tube, FET, This transformer and that transformer, and the REDDI is really its own thing while maintaining what your bass actually sounds like...
Its hard to explain in words.. But it s as much a feel thing as it is what you hear. IMO

Got a call from a guitar pal of mine to sub for their bassist. Rocked that gig on Friday. Amp-less stage, so i just brought my bass, REDDI and my pedal board. Carried all in one easy trip. Gig went excellent and the REDDI through my IEMs was just outstanding. After sound check, I had several of the techs from FOH come up and comment of the outstanding tone from my bass. Got similar comments after the gig from band members as well as those who hung out after the show. The over-all impression is how well the bass "sat" in the mix, which is a constant for the REDDI. I am loving this DI. It is one sweet piece of gear!

I've have the pleasure of doing a few gigs exactly like that, all met with the same response.

It's fun when you're doing a soundcheck at a bar type gig, and the staff can be heard from the bar saying how awesome that bass tone is...

Nice to hear how the REDDI has been working out live.

I only ever used it for recording.
My next ampless show am going to have to give that a shot.
I usually use the Radial JDV for gigs like that.

It is smooth as buttah... I tried all the pedals.. and the mid price rack stuff.. DBX, Ashley, JDK, Summit and Grace that friends own..... And I am sticking with this... Smoooth and undetectable with out artifacts... LOVE IT.. I hope to try it on Voice this week.. But bass is killer!!! And it fits in an API style box/ supply for ease of use and set up...
