REDDI Tube DI Mega Thread . Potential megathread that is.

+1 to the tube..... Also be sure that your AC line is grounded properly and has continuity all the way through .. end to end and is seating FULLY in the REDDI... I had an amplifier issue that made a sound until i really seated the AC cable forcefully into the socket... Try both and see how it goes.

Thanks guys. I just put an order in for two 6N1Ps at TubeDepot - I believe the Sovtek is stock in the Reddi? I agree with Kirk in that I found the power cord connection to the REDDI a bit tenuous. I'll try swapping some cords I have lying around and see if they are a more secure fit.

Yeah.. That box is so well shielded. And the transformers are shielded too and built like a tank! My guess is on an unsnugg fit on the AC cable...
I have seen that happen before in other pieces of gear. Once the ground is secure the interference goes away... I played to Boudahkan in japan many years ago and that place had HUGE interference since it sits on a hill with many Transmitters up there. A simple faulty ground caused havoc until the electricians found it... Ya never know

I checked the fit with a few other ac cables I had lying around and found one that sits tight and firm. I'm hedging on your guess as well but won't be able to verify until at sound check for gig later next week. If it turns out the ac cord fit was indeed the issue, then I'll also have a few spare tubes in my back pocket, which is always a good thing. :)

OK... an update. Just finished up an early gig this evening and with the better fitting ac cable and a new tube (I went for both possible fixes) the REDDI gave me no issues to FOH. It sounded wonderful in the floor monitors (band mates all commented about the warm, beefy yet articulate tone) and sound man was all grins. Awesome. Only issue remaining is that when using the thru on the REDDI into my amp, I got a hum. Flipping the lift on the REDDI reduced it, but did not fully eliminate it... any thoughts guys? FYI... bi-passing the REDDI = no hum at the amp.

Apparently there seems to be an issue with the exact combinatiob: db750/REDDI.
I have no idea why though.
A Lehle P-Split (I or II) splitter seems to be the best solution.

Not using a db750. Using a new Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2. Maybe an issue with that combo as well (?), but if I'm not mistaken, I believe that Kirk has had no issues with his Shuttle Max 9.2 and his REDDI, so would be surprised if the Shuttle version is the cause. Regardless, the hum wasn't a huge issue, as it was somewhat subdued, but I'd rather not have it. I'll do my do-diligence and look carefully through my signal chain and make sure everything, including the cables, are not contributing to the issue. Could be one bad cable for all I know...

Hey guys, I was considering to get myself the REDDI for my live setting. I play most of my gigs on a Fender jazz bass (passive bass). Here's to point, I read on a review about the REDDI that it may not be sounding that good with a passive bass... What do you think of that? Should I go with another DI that would be better for a passive bass? (sorry for my bad english I'm a french-canadian haha!) If so, what would you recommend?

The REDDI sounds GREAT with a passive bass.. I use my Sadowsky NTC in passive all teh time . I hardly ever use the preamp in that bass .. I also play my Alleva Coppolo basses passive.. I like the natural sound. The REDDI enhances in way that allows your basses full spectrum to come though.. I think people that say the REDDI doesnt sound good with a passive bass never really played a reddi.. And that goes for people that say you need passive DI for such and such a bass or an active DI for another type bass.

At times i work with some great engineers that have a few Grammys under their belts and they ALWAYS comment on how great the REDDI works.. And like i said I almost always use my basses Passive....

You are correct.. I have the MAX9.2 and Reddi... I have only had the MAX9.2 for a short time and have only used it one time with the REDDI... My Reddi usually stays at home in my small recording set up. And I only take it to special gigs... But i did not have any issue at all when using it with my Genz amp.. I have used my REDDI with my Streamliner, and MAX12.0 as well as a a few backline rentals with fender TB1200 s and never had any issue.. mmmm

I have known guys that use teh db750 would use the Lehle P-Split as Limeman says and got great results.. I dont have any experience with that though..

That is a great price for a new REDDI.. I have had mine for about 6 years now.. and it is like a TANK... just rock steady all the time..and addictive too... Congrats and welcome to the REDDI club.:)

Quick update: played the same venue on Saturday that I had issues with my Reddi and the hum to my Shuttle 9.2. This time I made sure both the amp and the Reddi were plugged into the same circuit and what do you know... no more hum. Issue resolved. Glowing reviews from FOH for the sound of my bass. Loving my Reddi. :bassist:
