i went looking thru my storage unit today and buried under a bunch of old guitar cases and store-all boxes, i saw a hint of tweed poking thru. after uncovering it, i realized that this was an old 1955 bassman that i bought years ago for dirt cheap, but forgot that i still had it.
it hasn't been fired up in years so i'll bring it up slowly on a variac tomorrow before testing it out. the amp was re-tweeded before i bought it and unfortunately, its speakers aren't original, but they are old Fender alnico's (probably out of a super reverb). this amp was made in 1955 and has the dual tube rectifiers. i realize these weren't great for bass, but who knows, it might still be cool for guitar. (the '57-'60 bassmans are the ONES that people consider the holy grail).
anyway, here's a pic of it:
