Reed James Neo Pickups

I have had nothing but positive, upbeat service from Jim at Reed James pickups. I have RJNeos on both of my boutique basses (Pavel 6 strings), I have ordered a set of 4 string Jazz Vintage Vibes and a set of cream bobbin humbuckers for my Sheraton II. Everytime I call him he is most helpful and prompt with answers to my questions.
I understand not everyone is going to get the same level of service (up until now Jim has been a one-man show, that has changed) but please don't ignore the incredible product he manufactures. There has never been a bass pickup that has impressed me more than Jim's pickups, and the custom covers/windings options available can't be found anywhere else.
I,for one, am a big fan and will be more than happy to stand behind Reed James pickups. If you are in the L.A. area, I will also be available to demo my basses for anyone interested. I will also send you a link to my recent CD from my Jazz Fusion trio which features my Pavel bass with RJNeo pickups.
I like to hear that 6 string bass. I hoping to squire a bass with these in it.

Not squire, aquire.
fruitlabor, if you would like to hear the bass recorded, go to Link Removed and you can hear it free on all songs. Recorded straight into an Avalon compressor with light compression...nothing more. Protools9 HD rig with no effects. Let me know what you think. Anybody else is more than welcome to check it out. Thanks!

I'm digging this! The band, bassplayer and pups, all sound great. Which Reed james pups are you using?

Thanks Rob and Hopkins my company has bean expanding with a lot of stuff used to be custom now on the shelf. See you 2015 NAMM . Its true that things got way over my head. Meeting the demand was impossible .On the disclaimers on my web site it dose say custom stuff could take up to a 12 mounts. Although the 15 - 20 hr's i work a day was not enough. I needed to get some help so I partnered up with business professionals ,we currently are not taking any more custom order's tell the end of the year. We have VVN jazz, RJ Neo splits and blades are now on the shelf in most sizes. There have bean some customers that have waited a long time for product . I always do my best to make it up to them by throwing in an another set of pickups or something.for being cool about waiting so long. I am now about over the hump .for all that hung in there with me I thank you and will not be forgotten. Will be Hall D 1st floor 2015 winter NAMM , Look foreword meeting friends and supporters of RJE in person there .

That's great to hear Jim. I hope NAMM 2015 goes really well for you and I'm glad to hear things are moving in a positive direction. As I've posted before, I had nothing but a positive experience working with Jim. The bass his pickup is going into has hit a couple delays but when it's finished I'll post pictures, sound clips and my impressions.

If anyone is interested, I have some Reed James Neo's for 6 string (P4 shape) that I'm selling.

That surprises me, you seemed to really dig the pickups in that bass.

Agreed, great playing all around and the bass sounds great.

Nice, very nice. I'd like to know what pickups you're using as well. Love the track. I a drummer and bassist. Nice lock down.

gospel jazz & fruitlabor thank you very much for the compliments! I'm happy you were digging the tunes...The pickups are Reed James RJNeo 6 strings in a Pavel Aryel with a flame redwood core. I have Reed James pickups in all of my basses (and soon my guitar, too!)
I love the sound of your band! I have two sets of his VVN in two jazz basses. I ordered a precision and a 6 string J/MM set. They should be done any day now.

Thank you! I just ordered a set of VVN p'ups for my Fender '04 Jazz Deluxe QMT, and I'm changing the preamp for a Barty. Great minds think alike! Let me know how the J/MM set kicks butt...I have a friend on the fence with the same configuration in a custom bass.

I absolutely love Reed James pups! You're gonna love those VVNs! The Barty/VVN combo will be sweet! I'll definitely let you about the J/MM set, when I have them, and get them installed.

Sounds great RodneyMac!!! Very good recording and mixing as well as great bass tone and musicianship by everyone! Very impressive! Reminds me of a cross between the Wayne Johnson Trio (with Jimmy Johnson on bass) and Canadian guitarist Brian Hughes. Nice!!!
