Refinished Wishbass - pics

Thunder, I'm a bit slow...
But I just looked at your profile and saw the other horses in your stable.
The fact that you are so happy with this bass, given your alternatives, says a lot about it...
Very interesting, and cool.
Enjoy...

I like the refinishing job, But I never really did like wish basses. Great job though It looks good for a wishbass. Since wish basses have all the cutouts in the body wouldnt that change the tone?

As you can see from the attached snap there is still a lot of wood on the bass and (being controversial) a long upper horn to neck contact area.

I'd really like to see some before and after pictures. Do you have any? :)

Looks like you did a great job with cleaning it up.

Sorry, but I didn't think to doing any before pics as I was too eager to get stuck in! However I still have the original "blanket" pics from eBay.

The top is definitely lighter (not just the photo) without the lacquer and the 'flame' much more visible.

Here they are:

So no raising/lowering the action at the saddle, eh?

It is a new bridge/saddle(!), but fitted the action is good - I don't have an exact measurement - but the original bass also had good action and a straight neck. As I think I said, taking the esthetics/finish away (and Steve W is completely open about the finish) out the box it was a good instrument!

Utterly NOT my preference for a body shape but the materials they use are quite nice and you put in a lot of effort and it shows!!

2 part question for you: what is the scale length on it and how many frets WOULD there be if it was a fretted model?
