But the stripped body that was just... not... quite finished? I thought it looked like a relic treatment gone horribly wrong.

That looks absurd. I would buy it MAYBE for $1000, but that price umm NO! I love old basses and guitars like everyone else does Im sure.

BUT I think this "Mojo" thing is way out of hand. I have seen 60's Stratocaster necks, just the NECKS go for more than a brand new Strat does. That's just a bad joke to me. It doesnt matter if your guitar or bass is 3 years old or 50 years old. The tone is in the hands.

If Jamerson were alive and he picked up a 2008 Pbass set up HIS way, does anyone think it would lack his tone? If Stevie Ray Vaughn were alive you could hand him a $150 Squire Strat and he would still sound like SRV. People dont get that. Vintage instrument ARE legit collectors items, but the prices and beliefs that sometimes drive them confuse me greatly.

The "Relic" thing is WAAAAYY out of control on ebay for sure. That bass is worth $700 IMHO. I'll bet as soon as you turn up the J pickup it's completely out of phase and has no bottom. Good luck to him on that auction.
