Remaining G&L Empress Basses

Depending on the timing of your deposit and that of another guy, that would make you the either the second or third person to order more than one.:bassist:

I've got 4 deposits in hand, 2 more very likely to come in, and at least 2 more that are somewhat likely. Thanks everybody for acting so quickly!!

I hate to even ask this, but ... is there an upper limit? I assume we're trying to meet a min and that the upper limit is not to be worried about (within reason). In other words if you get 10 or 15 orders will G&L have an issue filling it with the material on hand?

Yes, 6 is just the minimum they want to see. And while Wednesday is the deadline to get those 6 in, I can theoretically order even more for some small amount of time beyond that (basically until they run out of Empress). They've estimated to me that they have about a 3 week supply left.

OK - I just received a deposit for basses #5 and #6, so we are definitely there! The Empress run is a sure thing at this point.

I still have a bunch of quotes out, and we can wrap up the deposit side of things for those a little more leisurely. As I mentioned above, I can continue to order Empress basses for a little bit of time past Wednesday. The biggest thing was getting to 6 deposits by Wednesday, and we have accomplished that! Thanks, everybody!

I have a vintage natural L1005 - bought from Rocket last summer. Greg's got pics up of that. Vintage natural has a little yellowy tint to the natural finish. It's supposed to look like an aged natural finish and I think it comes pretty close. I think it would look cool with Empress. Natural is just totally clear.

We're up to 8 definite orders, and I'm adding 2 more for my inventory! If you're curious, you can see all of the specs that are being ordered here.

These are the two I'm ordering for my inventory:

G&L SB-2T (Empress, Vintage Natural)
- Empress/RW
- Vintage Natural
- Tort Guard
- Light Tint Satin Neck finish

G&L LB-100 (Empress, White)
- Empress/RW
- White
- 3 Ply White (WBW) Guard
- #8 Neck

I've got an update on the Empress pricing as it pertains to Premier finishes. Earlier in this thread, I had stated that Empress will work just like Ash ('cause that's what my G&L rep told me). However, now that the rubber is meeting the road (the orders are now being officially entered at the factory), I'm learning that Empress is a $100 upcharge regardless of the finish type. So if you do Empress under a Premier finish, G&L will add TWO $100 upcharges (instead of the 1 that would apply if it worked like Ash).

Sorry for any confusion on that! The only order that was effected was one of the ones for my store inventory (which I will adjust right away). Everybody else was working with either Standard or Metal Flake finishes, and those were all quoted correctly. WHEW!

Your welcome Greg, and thank you.

I was between the 1 1/2 and the 1 5/8 nut. I strapped on my MIM P with the 1 5/8 and a Sadowsky HPJ that has the 1 1/2 nut, I don't know how many times. The sadowsky won out.

Yes, mine is the Clear Forest Green with tort and rosewood on a QS neck (I always wanted that green).
