Remaining G&L Empress Basses

I've had a lot of folks inquire about special ordering Empress basses. G&L is unfortunately not yet accepting such orders, but there ARE still a bunch of instruments in stock and ready to ship immediately. Out of the 50 Empress instruments that they built, here's what's left on the bass side of things:

This is a rare chance to get a G&L with a weight starting with a "7". Heck, there's even a 6.9 pounder in this list... PM me if you're interested in any of these, and I can get you a quote.

I sure hope G&L makes this an option - a 6.9# L1K? Amazingly comfortable, I'll bet.

Quick terminology question - do you know what on here indicates whether they have matching headstocks?

I believe that would be PH for Painted Headstock...

And I learned a new one today: 1PW = 1 Ply White Pickguard

Greg you probably already noticed but the list is bigger because many are duplicates.

Duplicates? Do you mean from previous lists? If so, yeah, that'll happen. I'm not removing basses that appeared in previous lists, that sounds too much like work. Each list I post is the latest and greatest, and it supercedes all previous lists...

G&L tells me they're still building Empress basses, but they're almost out of Empress. They offered to let me do a special run of them if I could round up enough orders for 12 instruments by Monday. I passed, that didn't seem like something I could accomplish. I asked for 3 weeks, and they said they'd be out of Empress by then. Bummer.

Progress!! I've talked G&L down to a minimum order of 6 instruments in order to do a special run of w/ Empress bodied basses (these can all be special orders, they don't have to be uniform specs). I'm pretty sure I've got 3 orders lined up already, but we'll need to act quickly. G&L wants the order today, but I told them that is not going to happen. But it does need to take place in the next day or two...

So here's the emergency call to action: if you would like to special order an Empress bodied-G&L, please contact me immediately with your specs so I can generate a firm quote. We'll need to quickly move from quoting to taking a deposit to submitting the order officially. I'm guessing Wednesday needs to be the deadline. As far as build-time goes, G&L is still turning stuff out in just 4-6 weeks. So final payment would be needed in roughly that sort of timeframe.

So now that's 2 deposits in hand, and 3 more likely to come. That gets us up to 5 with extremely high confidence. I'm happy to order 1 for my inventory if needed, so I think we're there.

Craig B just raised a good point in an email conversation we were having...

G&L treats Empress the same way they treat Ash. It's a $100 MSRP charge under a Standard Finish, but it's a freebie under a Premier finish. In other words, since you're ordering an Empress body (if you participate in this run), you can choose either a Standard or a Premier finish and the price would be the same. Bonus!!

EDIT 3/25: I've since learned from G&L that Empress under a Premier finish will be charged a double whammy: $100 for Empress PLUS $100 for the Premier finish. So it's NOT like Ash in terms of how they price it. Empress is ALWAYS a $100 upcharge, regardless of finish.

Depending on the timing of your deposit and that of another guy, that would make you the either the second or third person to order more than one.

I've got 4 deposits in hand, 2 more very likely to come in, and at least 2 more that are somewhat likely. Thanks everybody for acting so quickly!!
