Remarkable discovery on US Geddy Jazz bass

Just swapped the pickguard on my '05 CIJ for a mirror guard I ordered from Pickguardian (great guy to deal with btw).......anywho, the bass looked slick without routing or holes with the PG off. Looked a lot like the OP's. Definitely would be playable without the PG in this case....

Here's the body from a $1400 American Standard jazz:

And here's my American Special that costs $600 less:

Why, Fender? Why?

I haven't seen an American Fender WITHOUT the route and/or hole in years. My 93 jazz had an ugly route under the pg, my 2008 and 2014 am standard P's have the CNC hole and the 2003 am standard Jazz I'm selling has the route and the hole.

I guess you never took the guard off your Jaco, they are done without routes but they also ship without a guard so it's understandable.

I would honestly be pissed in my Custom Shop had a swimming pool route, I don't think this is done to CS basses ever but I may be wrong.

I did. Your right. But that's to be expected on that one.

My Custom Shop has a pool under the guard. Not a big deal for me because the empty screw holes would drive me nuts anyway.

Just bought one of the crimsom geddy lee basses.. No routing under the pickguard... Wish they left it off and made it an owner option to install it.. The top looks great without the pickguard but u have holes !!
