Removing MarkBass logo plate from grill?

warm it up with a hairdryer.
So it will remove without any problem.

I loved the tone of my cmd121p but I agree that the orange is certainly ugly. I took the logo off. Then I took the grill off and covered it with some dark blue corduroy material, using double sided tape to attach it. It looked quite nice and it worked well... partly because the porting is on the rear. I tried to do the same with my ul112 so they would match but the sound got messed up because the ul112 is front ported.

The bottom cab has the logo removed. I hadn't gotten around to removing the logo from the top cab when this was taken.

This thread makes honestly made feel a bit sad. I love my Markbass LMII and I can't wait to get my hands on a Markbass cab so I can proudly put that logo on display. I really dig it and I would've never imagined that so many people didn't.

I'm sure it doesn't hurt any that yellow is one of my favorite colors, lol (then again my fav color is purple so maybe my taste differs a bit from the norm ;)). For me, Markbass makes the absolute best looking amps & cabs around and they're easily among the best sounding so it's no-brainer.

for some reason I like MB's colour scheme and design.
I wouldn't say it's super classy but I don't think the logo or the colour makes it looks non-professional.

actually, it's Eden's design that I'm not a big fan of - they look like some sort of lab equipment, these just scream for a giant oscilloscope to be mounted on the front panel.

same goes for GK, they got it a bit better but most of their models with the cooling slits look like something you'd expect to find in a cooled rack at the telephone company or your ISP.
I had an RB700 (1st gen.), tone aside, it looked so boring and dull that it could easily pass as some sort of controller for stage lighting or movie pyrotechnics. I admit though I kinda like the looks of the RB800 but it's mostly due to the 80s retro vibe than to some genuinely timeless design work.

I liked it at first, then I didn't, and now I'm OK with it again. I hate how the LMII looks on top of my blue checker B-15 extension cab, but I don't mind a Markbass stack. They do go overboard, though. Their cab logos are gigantic and the yellow cones are very much an acquired taste. They seem to sell very well, but I'm sure the yellow cones have cost them a few sales. Regardless, I still think the LMII/III is a superb little amp.

I almost didn't buy MB because I couldn't stand the logo, even though I like the yellow, particularly on the cones. In the end, sound (and weight) won out. After reading this thread, I'm thinking of taking pride in that ugly logo and leaving it on.

Ha! I've been saying this kind of thing about the Markbass logo for years- I always thought it looked like a sneaker display case. The thing I dislike most is the "Bass" part of the name. It just seems like such an announcement.

I have "Trace Elliot" on my amps still, but it's more 'snooty' than 'cheesey'. You know. They're British. You expect that.

Hi all

After doing a bit of searching I noticed that some people remove the yellow Markbass badge from the front of cabs/amps.

Well, unfortunately, mine has fallen off and has been lost.

A bit of a long shot but I was wondering if anyone anywhere has a Markbass badge that they have removed and no longer need?

I like the Markbass cabs. But I would like them better without the yellow speakers and
big yellow logos. on mine I used black gaffer tape on the logo and removed the grill from and put a piece of black cloth behind it, then reattached the grill. No more glaring yellow speakers.

interesting how black gaffer tape is showing up over many logos these days...especially on concert stages, and especially at the White House concerts. I figured at the White House concerts it was mandated by the White House to avoid showing favoritism to any brand that the cameras might expose. But on concert stages it may be an endorsement issue, or lack of. Nascar drivers sell autobody real estate by the square inch to advertisers who want to display their logo. Musicians should too. We eagerly display far too many logos in the music world, imho, for free. T shirts-hats-hoodies- instruments, amps.

I prefer a logo free environment!

I totally agree. Where you spend your dollar has a great deal of power. And the fact that we all advertise, for free, after paying that dollar for the privilege, that's also fairly powerful... :eyebrow: I do it too... :eek:

Thank you so much for this thread, i love the sound, power, and weight of my rig but the markbass aesthetic made me hesitant at first. I wanted to remove that logo plate from day one but assumed it would be difficult or cause damage/leave an apparent mark. A screwdriver and 10 seconds was all it took. A little isopropyl to clean up the tiny bit of glue residue and it looks like it was never even there. Such a cleaner look.
