Shouldn't need as much for an RB-4 as the 5's... isn't quite as neck-heavy.

Looking at this RB-4 at Willcutt Guitars (who by-the-way have a fine selection of Turner instruments) looks like just shy of the 12th fret oughta' do it. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

*don't know why that tag is mis-labeled... it takes you to a sunburst RB-4, not a natural RS-6...

I don't know why Rick stopped putting Ultralites on his basses. My 2000 RB5-FL had them, but my 2005 RB4-FL had much heavier Gotoh style tuning keys. I replaced those with Ultralites I had around from a previous bass I had put them on. That made a big difference in reducing neck dive, although the dingus is still a requirement to make it (mostly) go away (the longer the better.......).

I keep thinking about trying some flats on my fretless RB-5... I just... I really like the AcoustiCores. Once you get the windings played in, they sound so cool. FWIW, (and I'm sure I've posted this before...) RT once advised me to smooth the windings with some 600-grit sandpaper. Makes a huge difference in feel. The biggest hurdle for me, -as a hard-headed old upright player- was getting used to the ultralight tension.

the ultralights, plus 8 oz of added weight in the booty, now the bass balances perfectly when seated, and very comfy on strap. Happy happy with the bass now.

Get to put it thru some band situation at practice later tonight, which I can't wait to see if the bandmates like it too.

Hey @coyoteboy, where you been so long? ;)

Yeah, good to see Electroline making a resurgence. That line seems to have been dormant for a little while... I vaguely remember an article from maybe a year ago, where @Rick Turner announced their return to production. :hyper:

I think the zero fret is a hold-over feature from Model One. No personal experience with them, but I get it. :thumbsup:

*C.F. Martin & Co. used tortoise pickguard material for a headstock veneer on a few guitars back in the 1930's... I used to think it was only Style 17 & 18, but they show up on a few upper-end models from time to time too. I like it... :smug:

Brought mine (RB-5Fl) last night to rehearsal at church running it through my little board into the board/FOH with some reverb and a touch of chorus on the SVT setting and it sounds HUGE. New drummer to that campus (but an old friend) kept craning his neck from the fish tank to see what I was playing. He's never seen it before. I play it there pretty often depending on the set and the crew.
