Saw a post that the new Turner Electroline guitars are now using a Scott Walker buffer and boost circuit. Wonder how that differs from the original Turner circuit?

Scott's circuit is something we feel adds a little more versatility to the instrument as opposed to what is basically a DIY Alembic stratoblaster circuit, which is what we put in the first few batches of regular production Electrolines

It ain't no easier with a cello.

*tangentially related; current project in my shop is converting an old Kay cello to a micro-scale bass, possibly with D-Tar SoundSpot pickup. (Duncan-Turner Acoustic Research, now defunct) Had some really cool products though. I have an Equinox preamp.

Man, that sweetgum topped (?) Ren 5 looks nice against that door backdrop. I would love to put some nice wood around the rest of my little abode. I did get some rough cedar boards and do up the music room. The rest of the house is just... blah. I don't get to spend much time there anyway. One day maybe. @Jeff Scott often has some mighty fine carpentry work in his picture backgrounds too.

Question...has anyone succesfully replaced the tuners with Gotoh res-o-lites yet? I'm wondering whether it can help with the balance?

What keys are on it, now?

Not sure, it's an old one but it seems to be Gotoh.

If you are having balance issues, a dingus and suede strap should help.

Already doing that, but I recently read about the res-o-lites and thought...it might help even more

It would be helpful to see a picture of what you have on there now since there were various tuners used previously.

I replaced the stock tuners with these Hipshot Ultralights on my Turner Electroline and shaved .4 lbs off the weight if I recall. They were a drop-in replacement so no holes had to be modified or drilled. They are available in different colors but I went with nickel to match the piezo bridge on my Electroline. I never replaced the tuners on my previous Rens as I thought the dingus did a good job with the strap.

Not sure, it's an old one but it seems to be Gotoh.

The RB5-FL I bought new in '00 had USA Hipshot Ultralites on it; the RB4-FL I bought new in '05 (NAMM Show bass) had Gotoh GB-7s on it. I replaced the Gotohs with Ultralites.

Definitely looks like Gotoh GB-7's when I look at them (my bass is from 2008). Strange I can't find any logo or brand name.

I looked back at the original pics and my Electroline originally had the Gotoh GB-7 tuners. The Hipshot Ultralights were drop-ins and saved .4-.5 lbs if I recall.

I'm starting to get convinced these are Gotoh GB-7's currently.

Btw, this bass was neglected for a very long time (took me a while before the completely dried out wood of the bridge and fingerboard started to look and feel pretty again). Two of the tuning keys are not working 100% properly, so I was thinking about replacing them and then I read about the res-o-lite and ultralight options. So it's not just the balance thing why I'm thinking of replacing them. But IF I can lose some weight at the headstock, why not?
