- I privately own and operate a local musical instument repair shop.
Happy Independence Day to my fellow Americans here, and general well-wishes for all Nations around the globe. I believe we have had Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, and even Turkey represented here at some point.
I am on another forced hiatus from playing... another cervical fusion/laminectomy/decompression to my spine went down last week. I'm laid up here at home for the rest of the Summer. It went great... just gotta' heal up and rehab. Might even get back to gigging next year. The cycle of losing the feeling in my hands, getting injections, and the daily battle dealing with upper back pain was finally too much. I am winding down a 30-year career in public service, and anxious to move on to something less physical, needed to get this taken care of while I had paid leave and insurance. There may even be a return to playing music and a bit of work in my upright bass shop in retirement, providing enough to cover what the pension don't. We'll have to see how this goes.
Hope you all have gigs lined up for this season, and got those Turners tuned up.
Here's one that showed up in my Reverb feed today, and only a couple hours away from me. Looks pretty decent. No affiliation of course.

Y'all play a few for me... I'll be hanging out here on the porch this Summer. Later on, there'll be a little practice amp, and uhhh... well, we'll see if the Model One fits on the double-wide rocker.
