repainting the head on my Squier Jazz deluxe

So, during my current 6 string conversion, I have managed to make a pretty poor job of the headstock, and I think the best route is just to clear off the current, and repaint.

Can anyone help on how to go about this. Im guessing very fine 4/600 grit paper? plenty of coats of white, then a coat of clear.

Can anyone recommend the colour I should use to match, and the clear on top?

I dont know if your going to be able to make an exact color match on that. if you wanted you could go to Link Removed and look around they sell the original paint used by fender. downside is since its a squire if you go that rout your going to have to strip the whole thing which is a pain due to the paint they use.

have attached it. I was basically trying to remove the Squier bit with some diluted Acetone, and since it worked to remove some of the black writing on the back (just took of the made indonesia), I thought it would be okay.... I wanted the logo gone just because I didn't like having some of it hidden. Have also chipped around the tuner holes a bit

Are you going to fill the holes so they all fit the smaller shaft tuners?

If not, the finish looks like its still there, start at 600 grit and work your way to 2000 and polish it back out. be careful not to sand past the color.
