I'm thinking about buying an as is multicomp. The owner says it doesn't always switch on and has no sound when off. He says it sounds great. I can soldier and I'm hoping its the power a jack or switch.

Mechanical footswitches are a common point of failure with pedals, so that's a good place to start. Use a multimeter to find out for sure.
