repertoire suggestions

Hey guys.

So I've been open mic-ing with a friend of mine who plays acoustic guitar. We've been doing mostly covers, and we try to be as eclectic as we can be, with only an acoustic guitar and an electric bass. To give you an idea, we've covered the Grateful Dead, Dylan, Wilco, Belle & Sebastian, Townes Van Zandt, Johnny Cash, the Velvet Underground - yeah, pretty much acoustic-y folky stuff, but what're ya gonna do?

So I'm getting tired of the same ol' songs, and I'm looking for suggestions. Got any songs that work for acoustic guitar and electric bass? Don't feel compelled to stay in the vein that I've outlined. That's the direction we've gone in already, but I'm not married to it. I wanna hear what you all have got.

Oh, and don't get too anxious about the whole covers thing. We've got our own material, but in a 3-song set, maybe one will be a cover. Something like that.

My old boss played at his bar on Friday and Saturday nights acoustically and sometimes with a bass or mandolin accompaniment. He really tore it up when he did Social Distortion covers (like ball and chain). If you did the Steelers Wheels song that was in Reservoir Dogs or the Little Green bag that would raise a few ears.

check out a Canadian artist named Hayden. Listen to his albums "Everything I Long For" and "The Closer I Get". Plenty of cuts on those that could work... wicked songs, too.
