Replacement speaker for Combo 300?

Picked up an old Peavey Combo 300 today, but it needs a new driver in it. Previous owner took out the BW for some reason. I'd like to get something that's a little bit better efficiency and will take the power the amp dishes out. Bill Fitzmaurice suggested a 1502-4 Black Widow DT for it but those are only 96DB on the sensitivity and also heavy. A neo would be a good option of this amp. I like the tone, but there's only about 2 cubic feet in the cavity so I imagine a good driver will be hard to find. Suggestions?

I did. That thread was about black widows specifically, I'm not putting interested in putting a black widow in it.

Here's my 2 cents worth, the only Neo Eminence 4 ohm speaker that comes to mind, is the Basslite C2515, it has a Xmax of 4.5mm where as the BW only has a Xmax of 2.6mm ...it's alittle cheaper than the BW

Since it's "only' a PV and not a vintage fliptop, I propse a more invasive solution.

cut out the baffle and reinstall a new one (easy job even for a beginner). Install a kappalite 3012HO or 3012LF. The latter will likely need a midrange consideration.

Since the baffle will be off, you could properly measure and retune the cab to the new driver.

lighter, very efficient, and high quality. LIkely an Xmax improvement over the PV as well.

other consideration- 2 ft is a small space for 2 tens, should you consider that route to drop impendance to 4 ohms. the s2010 wil lwork in there, are SOO light, and have nice xmax, but I dont know how 2 would stack up compared to the 3012HO or the 15" nbasslite you are considering.
