Replacing amp sims with a pedal

Aplogies if Im posting in the wrong forum but:

I do a lot of home recording directly into my computer. I go through a Line 6 ux2, running Pod Farm into my Macbook Pro. It works for writing ideas, but its obviously not the most honest representation of whatever gear I use. If I wanted to record a comparison of different axes or pickups, this route is pretty much futile.

Ive been interested in the Darkglass B7k for a long time, so my main question is: If I just replaced Pod Farm with a nice pedal like the Darkglass, would I get a more accurate representation of my ax? Or would I have to get an additional DI box, or even upgrade to a better interface?
