Folks, we all get the point. Sire makes a fine bass at an attractive price point. It's fine to sing their praise and say nice things about them. However, we are at the point where there appears to be a deliberate campaign to bring up Sire in every single Fender/Squier thread. Once in a while is fine. But we are far beyond once in a while. We get it. Sire is a good bass. Your work is done.

Thank you. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

As someone who came close to ordering a Sire, but who bought a much more expensive Jazz, why does mentioning Sire bother you? It is a great option among many great options, no more, no less.

It doesn't bother me, except the fact that it is pervasive and only tangentially on-topic.

For example, if someone went into every single thread that was about Rickenbackers and had to point out "I can cop a great Ric tone on my EBMM and it has better fit and finish" how would that appear?

Also, most mentions of Sire are accompanied by a negative comment (usually by implication) about the price or quality of the comparable Fenders or Squiers. When you are proposing an alternative and build it up, you are necessarily taking the original subject and subtracting from it.

Advocacy and passion is great as long as it stops somewhere short of carpet-bombing.

Have you at least considered a Sire? If not, how about a fEARful or a B3k?

And as a Sire owner I agree, I don't promote them in non Sire threads, in threads that are asking questions about them I may put in my .02 cents or as in the current Sire at GC thread or the owners thread but yeah Fender/Squier or whatever my preference has always been for posters to stay on topic, but you know how that goes:cool:Jim

This happens with every brand, "I have narrowed my search down to 2 basses A or B , which should I buy?" "How about X?" You can't change the tide, you just have to roll with it and it will eventually change itself...
Funny, I was just thinking of this example but I was considering brands X,Y, and Z.

I hope to maybe soften my stance as well. My ask isn't intended as a cease and desist so much as to raise some food for thought. I'm happy to continue hearing about Sires in any thread where they fit into the conversation, even Fender/Squier threads where the inclusion isn't a forced fit.
