Time to Lawyer up I'd think.
"We're eliminating the carrier from the conversation" sounds more like reverb has no choice but take responsiblity because reverb did not purchase any insurance from the carrier. She probably said eliminating
Weird, given it was the carrier/shipper that caused the actual damage.
Eliminating the carrier

They handle the claim for themselves...since they are admittedly on the hook for 'self insuring'. They assume the responsibility and need to make good on thier gamble...I read it as they handle the claim for the seller.

In case anyone missed it here it is -
"You purchased Reverb Safe Shipping for your sale of this Rickenbacker. That means we're illuminating the carrier from the conversation in regard to damage and lost shipments."
" Illuminating" sounds more like insulating aka they have no insurance with the carrier
They are short selling coverage and then trying to weasel out of it when their luck craps out
Yes as in taking the insurance out of the equation, as in there is none.I think they meant "eliminating" as in they are taking the carrier out of the equation.
Yes ship it here for evaluation.I can also offer to have this shipped directly to the repair tech of your choice. Can you let me know how you would like to proceed?
If you'd like to speak over the phone, you can schedule a call here at your convenience.
Best,
Yeah if I want my money tied up for years instead of months lolYes ship it here for evaluation.

First off no idea what a pram isAt some point, you're going to have to get out of the pram, pick your toys up off the floor and compromise.
First off no idea what a pram is
Are you defending Ric's customer service? Maybe you need to give it a search but it's legendarily bad
I'm fairly certain after paying almost $400 for fees and shipping it's not unreasonable to expect an item to arrive safely and if not that the burden of the responsibility falls on neither the buyer nor the sellerSorry..."throwing one's toys out of the pram" is a British expression. A pram is a baby buggy.
I am not trying to be mean - though I suppose my language isn't exactly nice - but my point is that you're obviously upset and feel hard done by. Unfortunately, you want what you want and are not willing to compromise. You can dig your heels in and refuse, but you are likely to end up out of whatever money you got for this bass and without a bass.
Maybe it will work out for you. But I think, at some point, you are going to have to work with the seller and Reverb to have the bass returned to you and assessed by a luthier.
Edit: I am under no illusions re Rickenbacker. I play a Ric, for the record.
Yet, you bought a bass from them?First off no idea what a pram is

Yeah apparently I'm a glutton for punishment
