Resolved: Reverb woes

Ok. I know this is off website but it is kind of on topic. Ebay, as we all know, is always looking for a new and creative ways to screw us. So this is the latest for me!
Apparently USPS removed the ground shipping option LAST YEAR from EBAY - but EBAY continued to have it listed as a shipping option. So of course my buyer chose it! So I am now eating an additional $$$ to cover shipping and insurance on a bass from NY to CA. (and of course they now charge a % on total sale which includes shipping!) Mind you there was no warning about this what so ever and I just listed the bass last week. So now I have to fight with Ebay as they only want to offer me a coupon for the difference.
Again. I know this pales in comparison to what the OP is going through but as long as we are in a discussion about online robbery I figured I would let you guys/girls know....and blow off some steam in the process.
Sorry

I've always hated how eBay charges you final value fee on shipping or the calculator gives the buyer low-ball rates even with correct dimensions and weight, I've gotten burned a few times

Bummer. Been a while but I think you can set shipping parameters in your ebay account manually.

Reverb can give them whatever they want, it won't come from my pocket, listening to all the naysayers here has solidified that

I didn't post here to convince you of anything. After reading through 16 pages of you playing the victim, it was obvious that you weren't going to accept responsibility for a packing job that didn't meet minimum standards.

No, I told you what's going to happen. You can refuse to believe it, and I expect that's exactly what you'll do. But if Reverb tells you to refund, you will refund or you will wind up in collections.

Seller/OP is also injured. The stuff he shipped under Reverb's auspices and guarantee got damaged.

And Reverb is trying to remedy the situation. But the seller/OP is refusing to cooperate. Reverb is saying they need to have the bass inspected, but the seller won't either arrange to have it sent back to him (so he can take it to a luthier for inspection) or arrange to have it sent directly to a luthier for inspection.

Yes, but the seller wants a full refund. Period. And this is where all the issues begin. It is possible that insurance could be structured in a way that any claim would result in a full payout, but we would be complaining about the cost.
