Restoration Help Needed

I just picked up a mid-eighties MIJ Jazz Bass Special fretless. Someone "added" a precision pick guard and modified the electronics.

I want to put the bass back to stock. What's the best way to fill all the screw holes for the pick-guard? The bass is solid black - any idea what paint would be compatible with the existing finish?

I also would like to find the original knobs (yes I know - good luck with that)

Not assuming it will be an invisible repair but I would like to get some ideas on how to proceed.

Fill the holes and then re-paint with ?? Color sand and then clear coat. What paints are compatible with the existing finish? THX
