Restoring a '76 Rickenbacker 4001

Necrobumping this because I’m about to start a 4001 rebuild. Not exactly a restoration - the end result will definitely be a player and not a show piece. I’d love to know how this one turned out.

I got pretty deep into my 4003 in this thread if it helps?

Fun with a Rickenbacker - troubleshooting and modding.

Mine is a 2009 that came with worn out electronics, dented up finish and various odd bugs and quirks.

Wow, you really did get deep into it. Thanks for the information, and I really like the finish you achieved on yours. Mine is really rough. Really, really rough. It's basically a hull with no plastics or electronics, and until I actually get it, the pictures looked like someone refinished it very poorly. In any case, it will be a good platform for a mix of Ric and aftermarket parts once I do something with the finish. The intention is to have a player.
