Good point! I can see why the HPF was set so high. This will likely not be a low-end monster, but some will love that aspect.

While I'm priced out of the tube heads and likely priced out of the cabs too I am somewhat interested in the preamps which are in the ballpark where I can convince myself to get just one. It'll be a way easier sell for me if retailers will be getting these too.

I'd mainly use the Sunn preamp through the Power Amp In/Preamp Out of my Peavey Mace VT head.

I had one of those. I liked it better than the Acoustic 126 combo I also had a the time.

I don't understand why they aren't just launching with a new Model T that follows the specs of the 70s amps (not the high gain version Fender made in the 90s/00s). Those amps go for a lot of money now thanks to SunnO)))), Boris, Cave In, etc etc etc. Hell, Greg and Stephen from SunnO))) probably own at least a couple dozen of them between the backlines they've got for different countries!

I do admire that it's going to be MIA, but seems like going out there with say a 60 watt Model T, 150 watt Model T, and some version of the SS Beta line would have made more sense.

I remember. Well, not from the specific time, but I used to see Sun beta heads in some of the "vintage" guitar shops. I remember lots of scratchy pots on them and many were not well-taken-care of. They sounded pretty good, but I felt the bass control was too high - it seemed to affect the low-mids quite a bit.

Ampeg offers a 300 watt all tube alternative, for significantly less dinero. Sunn staked it's claim on being ultra loud. I think that in today's world, "our 100 watts are louder than your 300 (or 800 watts)" is going to carry much weight.

That's another possible reason for the choice.

Me too! I still have my Beta Bass Combo 1x15
Needs work though. Haven't used it in years.
I used it in town, on the road, even flown many times.
The airlines cracked the cabinet but didn't persue because
playing six nights a week didn't allow much time to get it fixed.

I have one I bought in 79, still have the receipt. I paid about the same price if I remember correctly. I'd have to check receipt. Mine isn't working and needs work.

Just in case it hasn't been pointed out before. Fender is not bankrolling this. They are just licensing the name to a group of investors that you too could be part of....

Is Sunn owned by Fender?
The Intellectual Property (the Sunn name, logo etc) is owned by Fender Musical instruments Corp. The new Sunn team has licensed the rights from FMIC to use the Sunn brand on our products. The design and manufacture of Sunn products is all done by Sunn in our own factories and with our own staff that are not related to Fender.
