Going down in gauges shouldn't be an issue. My Am Std P came with 45-65-85-105 and is now wearing 40-56-76-101 with no problem.

TI Super Alloys are a nickel alloy. Probably alloy 52?
TI Jazz Rounds ( and Flats )have pure nickel outer wraps. I know the packaging says "alloy" but I got this directly from TI.
Excellent! I don't geek out over strings much, but by the same token, I wouldn't put a super-heavy set of strings in narrower slots. That would be silly.

Yep, I answered that one. I'm still shocked at how much nickel strings outsell stainless.
I know we've talked about this before, and I'm sorry the 37.25" winding length doesn't work for you. Does your bass have a top-load option on the bass in addition to string-thru?
True, not everyone plays a Fender (like myself). But the 37.25" fits a lot more non-Fender basses than you may think.
How would one make a SS version of a pure nickel string? Asking for a friend.
It was the balanced construction (where each string has two wraps, and is balanced tension) that he was asking about, as in "would there be a Balanced Steels set in the future?"
Indeed. Just so happens I'm needing new strings on my Matt Freeman anyway so just ordered a set. I'm anxious to see how they compare to Boomers.
Surely you know that Jim Dunlop has nothing at all to do with Dunlop tires. Jim Dunlop DOES make some of the best bass strings you can get though.

I'm looking forward to a shoot out as well. The GHS BT set (44-60-80-106) nickel over round core vs D'A BT set (45-60-80-107) nickel over hex core should be a pretty close apples to apples comparison. Based on the OP's review I suspect the D'A set will have a little more bite out of the box. Should be interesting.
Disclosure: I've been using the D'A balanced XLs for several years now. Also use D'As coated XLs (EXP nickel) and build my own balanced sets from BSO. So yes, looking forward to a head to head comparison with the new GHS strings.

Yeah, totally not a Fender.
Now, while I have some Fenders in the office (for obvious reasons), my main bass is a med scale Hilton 5st, which these strings don’t work on.
Pure nickel over round core vs. Nickel-plated-steel over hex core - it's more like apples-to-pears comparison. I have used the D'A EXL170BT set and these two are not even close.
I wish they offered a 'heavy' set, I would buy medium and heavy. I like a Light bottom heavy top (105-90-70-55), or thereabouts.

Yeah, no.
Aside from what was already mentioned, the D'A BT set still uses 1 cover for the G string and 3 covers for the E string, whereas the Balanced Nickels use 2 covers on all four strings. Different construction, not to mention materials that are different as well.
An apples/apples comparison would be between the D'A set and our Bassics in 44-58-80-106.
Now there's a very creative idea - make an unbalanced set out of two balanced sets!
Obviously, these are not for you, I'm afraid...
Oh no, I'll definitely be getting some anyway. Love GHS Precision flats, and I love Nickel Roundwounds (only roundwounds I like are nickel). So I'm sure I'll like these, and get used to the wimpy G.

I think you'll be surprised, with the 2 cover construction on the G.

I have the light set with the 40-G, which is anything but "wimpy". In fact, it's rather shocking how good a 40-G can sound with an innovative design such as these. The best 40 I've ever played by a mile.
I've been using and enjoying DR Nickel Lo-Riders, I wonder how these might compare. Gonna have to give them a try, I've always wanted to use GHS strings since they're from my neck of the woods.
