I've had this pickup on my bass, a 7/8 Shen flatback, for a while now, since I got the bass, and I have to say i really dislike it. I keep trying to get a good sound with it, but all I get is piezo quack and string noise and a cold, unacoustic sound. There's a thump that gets in the way of the note, and it's really boomy as well. I've tried moving it around, I've tried different preamps (Raven labs PMBI, Sans amp paradriver, Avalon U5)--I usually run it into the avalon, which worked great with the full circle I had on my old bass. All I get with the rev solo is nasty thump, string noise, and piezo quack. I really hate it, and I've been trying to deny that for a while becasue the reviews on it are so good. Maybe I just installed it badly, but there's a good tight fit--snug but easy to move. The bass is a fully carved bass with a really nice acoustic sound, none of which comes through.
I didn't try the full circle on this bass, but I can't live with what this thing sounds like. Am I doing something wrong?
