Rewiring series pickup to be 4-conductor?

Here's the wiring diagram for series/outer singles/parallel - any idea on how I would change things to get inner singles instead?

Inner singles: bridge coil on neck pickup --- neck coil on bridge pickup

Outer singles: neck coil on neck pickup -- bridge coil on bridge pickup

EDIT: On that wiring diagram, when it says "neck SC" and "bridge SC" it's not referring to which pickup is hooked up, it's telling you which coil of any pickup is chosen in Single Coil mode when you wire the pickup in this way.

So, on that diagram:

Inner Singles: neck pickup uses bottom wiring - bridge pickup uses top wiring

Outer Singles: neck pickup uses top wiring - bridge pickup uses bottom wiring

any reason why you'd prefer the inner pair vs the outer pair?
the outer pair would be farther apart so they'd have the most tonal variation and less cancellation in system parallel mode
other thought is why not choose the single coils rwrp with respect to each other so that the middle position is hum canceling (instead of hum doubling)

just my thoughts from a ton of guitar wiring

edit: i prefer buying 4 conductor pickup cable for this kid thing, but in a pinch, sacrificing an old usb cable will provide the needed 4 conductor wire for a pickup

Inner pair and outer pair are both going to be RWRP hum cancelling options. NS or SN

What would be hum doubling would be both-front or both-back. NN or SS

As far as preferring outer pair to inner pair, they'll both have some frequency cancellation via comb filtering. Outer pair will be a bit more scooped. Inner pair will be a bit more middy. The difference between the two options gets smaller the further apart the pickups are from each other.

I've owned and rewired a bunch of G&L L2000 Tribute basses, so I've got lots of experience with series/single/parallel vs outer coil/series/inner coils wiring. I found that I generally preferred the inner coils together for a fatter tone than outer coils. I also found that I didn't care too much for parallel which sounded a bit bland.

These sensing part of these coils are a good deal closer together than the pole pieces on L2000 pickups which is why I wonder just how different the inner and outer coil pairs sound from each other. Either way, I think I'm going with outer/series/inner when I do my wiring.

These pups are fairly close together so maybe there'll be a decent amount of difference between the settings. Either way, I wanted to go with single coil pups in this bass - here's my pathway!
