I haven’t posted a gig report before, but wanted to give a little slice of gigginess from my little corner of the world in northern Wisconsin. This past Saturday my country/pop/rock covers band, Double Barrel, played a private party. The venue was the house/farmette of some relatives of our drummer. We’ve played for them before, and they know how to throw a party, so we happily said yes when they asked us to play for their combination graduation/summer/let’s just have a party, party. Here we are most of the way through the setup dance: note: Hawaiian shirt guy is NOT part of the band. We’d have to learn some Jimmy Buffet to let him sit in After setup, I journeyed to the opposite side of the garage/pole barn/nicer than my house area to inspect a cool looking little enclosed trailer parked there. What did I find? Whiskey/sour, vodka/cranberry, and margaritas ON TAP. Labeled with duct tape and sharpie. True Wisconsin style! There was food. I didn’t take pics because it came out right as we started playing, and, well, it was really good but no pics. Sorry. wait! There was a popcorn machine… so here’s our little band. We have fun and don’t take anything overly seriously. Kalee on keys, Peter on guitar, Adrean on lead vox, some nerdy looking bass player, and Mitch on drums. We all sing. Kalee is pretty new to the band and gigging in general - but every gig we hear her belting it out a little more. She has a great voice and we are encouraging her to go for it! The crowd was in fine form and had a blast dancing to everything we threw at them… We played about 45 minutes over after being talked into ‘one more song’ about six times… Very fun night! Here’s some video Mitch’s wife grabbed. Overall… happy with my bass tone finally lol! I’m no Luke Combs but I try… All country bands play 90’s Alternative too, right? Save the proverbial horse… Thanks for looking!
Ok, Ok .. I'll give you a pass on the food since you did provide some nice shots of the chicks.. and the music was loud which I like.. nice job on your 1st gig report... we expect many more. Popcorn meh!
Great report, photo and video. I was especially pleased to see Roland XP80. This old horse still going steady.
Great gig report, looks like fun was had by all in attendance so it's all good. Love popcorn machines like that, my son has one in their basement/media room. Good stuff! You have a "nerdy bass player" too? One thing our bands have in common I guess. Thanks for sharing!
Outrageously excellent first report, sir!! In fact, excellent, PERIOD!!! I love the popcorn machine, the bass amp, the chicks.... (One thing, though. That keyboard player needs to smile more.). (Kidding!). Looking forward to lots more. Yay, band! (To quote the famous BassCliff!)
I love hearing about successful gigs. By all account, this was one. All ages were grooving. Nicely done. Keep them coming. Whiskey sour on tap, come on!
Right there, automatically a successful gig. Seriously, though, excellent gig report. Maybe the first, but hopefully not the last!
