I vote for Tom Hamilton from Aerosmith-if you just want to talk about bass players-real bass players. Aerosmith is one of the top paid bands IN THE WORLD.
2nd runner up would have to be Michael Anthony from Van Halen

He's a GREAT player and helped form the Beatles. He's rich and his playing certainly helped contribute to his craft and its financial rewards. Sorry to hear you are suffering from lockjaw.

Tom and Micheal are great players as well, but I wouldn't say they influenced generations of musicians. Some definitely - me included.
But not on McC's scale.

+1 to the songwriters. Session guys can make decent money, but publishing is what really lasts.

And for Jack Bruce, from my understanding, Clapton initiated the reunion shows to help a financially struggling Bruce and Baker. Not totally sure on it, just what I heard.

this is probobly the most innacurate post i've ever seen on TB! no offence to you, but infering that paul mccartney is not a "real" bass player is just not right..and more on topic, if you think michael anthony is one of the richest bass players in the world your out of your mind. his career lasted a fraction of the amount of time that mccartneys did, and what do you pay to see him in concert now, as compared to paul mccartney, whos career started in the early 1960s?

Tom Hamilton?!! Michael Anthony?!! Where does one find a drug that would make one so delusional? It's McCartney without a doubt. It doesn't matter if you don't find his bass playing jaw dropping or not the fact is he is without question the richest bass player around and probably always will be.

Hey, the guy's entitled to his opinion. If he thinks McCartney isn't a good bassist, that's his right. He's completely wrong, and he's even more wrong about his two choices, but it's fine.

Good or bad is a matter of opinion. But he can't deny that McCartney was hugely influential and of great importance to the development of the bass guitar.

seriously though, "hes intitled to his oppinion" means nothing..how rich someone is..is not an oppinion..its a number value..although we dont have these numbers infront of us, lets be real..michael anthony? next to paul mccartney? are you kidding..where does one find a drug..that can make one..so dilusional..:ninja:
