I really hadn't given a second thought to the fact that my birthday is coming up next week. These things usually come and go with little fanfare.

But when I got home from the office today, the wife had this baby waiting for me.....

Yep, I'm still in shock. I didn't see it coming AT ALL.

I'm posting this to throw out major props for John Files and Bass Emporium in Austin, TX. My baby's Google search for a "blueburst Rick" (that is literally all she knew about it - what she heard me say) led her to Bass Emporium, and they appear to have taken great care of her - friendly to a fault, gave her an excellent price (yep, I asked), and helped her buy something she knew next to nothing about.

John, if you're reading this, thanks a million.

About 3 years ago, my girlfriend(now fiancee') surprised me with a Lakland Skyline JO.

The root of my GAS is a Ric. Matter of fact, i've drooled over that one a few times.

I no longer have it...I gave it to her son for HIS birthday.

I was lucky enough to check out a blueburst 4003 at the local shop, but the burst was nowhere near as vivid as that one, it's stunning. Congratulations on a fantastic looking instrument.
