Rick Turner and... Michael Kelly???

Hi Tbassers. I just played one of these. Really, really, REALLY nice sounding bass. And light as a feather. Looks good too. If you are a jazz player, it's very easy to get a warm, upright like tone and thump out of the bass. Only two niggles: the strap button at the neck joint is a hassle - sharp lipped and too big, so difficult to get a strap on it. Easily replaced. Also, the electronics - battery sits under the other stuff and is a minor hassle to get out and changed. But those are both really small things.

For this price point, I say you gotta try this bass. Thing plays really nicely and sounds REALLY great. Go. Now! (smile)

Ha, good one!

Does it pick up a lot of finger noise like piezos sometimes do?

Thanks I made that up.

It sounds really good. Very full sounding and not clanky to my ears. This is coming from a guy who likes a reggae tone and flat wounds. It comes stung with D'addario XL Nickel wounds. It is a little bright for my tastes but rolling off the tone knob sounds great to my ears. I believe it has the same electronics as the US made Ren bass.

One this noticeably different is the abalone bling all over the MK version that is missing on the RT version. A bit over the top but it looks pretty well done.

I don't think that Rick could "retire" from designing and building instruments any more than Wavy Gravy could "retire" from being a hippie. It's a matter of loving what you do.

Peace and out, dude! :D

How does it play on a strap...I'm always leary of strap buttons above the 12th fret throwing off my frame of reference and the neck being way out to the left..if you know what I mean..
For me, the balance was just fine. The only problem - the strap button is so big and sharp edged, it's difficult to get the strap on. Probably best to install strap locks.
