Rickenbacker 4003s at Sweetwater

I just saw six Rickenbacker 4003s on Sweetwater. Four Jetglo and two Mapleglo. Call for price of course. Seems newsworthy to me.

And in doing some further checking they do in fact show up as an authorized dealer on Rickenbacker.com.

Rickenbacker doesn't permit retailers to post the prices for new instruments online. All the authorized retailers have the same caption (call or email for price.)

But frankly Im just glad someone replied. I thought this was big news.

This seems like a good thing. Sweetwater has a better reputation than competitors like Musician's Friend/Guitar Center and Sam Ash, and I hope that will result in more Ricks getting good setups and inspections before being shipped to customers. Wildwood may still be the king of Rick retail customer service, but it's usually good to have retailers competing to please customers.

I recently purchased a new 4003s from my local Sam Ash. Did not have to do anything as far as set up. Action, intonation, etc, was perfect. Also got it for under $1400 out the door, including strap.

Will be no bashing SA from me.

I too picked up a MapleGlo 4003s from one of the big retailers (Guitar Center) and the thing is absolutely flawless. Action was perfect and it is virtually silent. I had another Rick shipped to me from somewhere else and it was the nosiest bass I have ever played.
