Rickenbacker-style bass pickups?

I have SD's in my 4003, the bridge pickup (SRB1-b) is a beast! In contrast, the output from the neck pickup SRB1-N is almost non-existent in comparison. The magnet is so strong in the SRB1-N that it's difficult to raise it up high enough to have any measurable output without it pulling on your strings and killing your sustain. I have the Bartolini in the neck now, I like the tone but it still has a lot less output than the SRB1-b. I don't know what to do, but I know I don't want to dumb down my bridge pickup to compensate for weak neck pickups.
