Sexy mo' bass!

In other news I'm getting a new car that can carry big cabs! A 610 or 810 is in my future! Or maybe a 410 to couple with the 212...

Either way, 1200 watts at 4 ohms!

I carry that 810, the head, a backpack with the rest of my implements and 2 basses in my VW GTI. Granted the back seats are folded down, but fits nonetheless.

It looks like you removed the amp from the combo on the top of the stack and installed it in your rack (to be used as a preamp?)... Is that correct? Tell us more please!

Ahh, a keen eye you have. Yes, here is what I did was in lieu of buying a whole new head or rig and abandoning my Ampeg B200R.

I pulled the chassis out of the Ampeg cabinet, purchased a Behringer EP1500 power amp and a splitter box. My Dad and I custom built a cabinet that would house everything. Unfortunately, the Ampeg unit is 21" across versus the standard 19" rack unit, so some custom wood work had to be done.

I run my G&L through a Bass30 DOD multieffect pedal and then into the combo unit. I am using the Ampeg's tube preamp and running the line out to a splitter. From the splitter, one XLR runs to the board and then another XLR to the Behringer. The Behringer is running in parallel so one input produces outputs from both channels allowing me to control each cabinet separately.

So what I'm looking at is 450W going to each cabinet at 4 Ohms (900W total). That 4x10 is my brand new Avatar that just arrived yesterday evening and I'm still working on getting it broken in. We're playing in Atlanta Sunday and I've got to be ready. I'm planning on adding some more stuff to it eventually, just gotta get the cash saved up.

Anyway, that Avatar cab is super loud already and the cones aren't even close to being broken in yet.

WOOOO!!!! :bassist:
