RIM Custom 6 headless for Christophe

Hi Guys,

Its a shame the bass is gonna be sprayed Chrome, but this is what Christophe wants for his custom bass. Im sure its gonna look great, also the fingerboard will be sprayed metalflake which is as close to chrome as we can go. I was hoping to do the fretboard Chrome but Martin at Sims Custom told me the frets react badly to the finish.

Indeed, its a pity to cover up that pretty wood, but it will look killer in chrome.

Just from having an iPod with the chrome back, I can't image dealing with the fingerprints on an all chrome bass. It will definitely be an eye catcher.

Its been a while since my last update, ive been busy on my new Kitchen and other house stuff. Ive now got Christophe's bass back from Martin at Sims Custom, it looks the nuts and the other camshaft parts will be going off the chrome next week.

Mothers chrome polish will fix this. Prevents finger prints for quite a while before it needs more.


Also the bass looks very nice, though there seems to be some orange peel. Is that rectifiable?

Hi Guys,

The bass does have alittle orange peel which I cant do anything about, overall the customer is very happy and cant wait to get hold of his finished bass. The Fretboard does have a clear coat over it, so its gonna be interesting sanding out the top of the frets.

not a chrome fan, and hate the FB look, but I do love the body shape and carving Robbie, thing is just awsome. Would love to see this same type of bass with a Lacewood top and a walnut body, neck through.....LOL Great work as always Robbie.

Quick update the camshaft headpiece and rear cover has gone to chrome platers, so i will be starting to put the bass back together over the next couple of weeks

The cams are purely just for looks as Christophe is a engine Designer for Mclaren F1, the bass is his personal design which I have tried to bring to life, he is over the moon so far and fingers crossed we should be ready in the next 2-3 weeks.
