Sad news, but we can take comfort that he lived to a ripe old age, and, despite his health problems in his youth, seemed to live a wonderful productive life.

Music would certainly be very different if it wasn't for him.

We are recording me on bass and guitar for one of our songs tonight....and I already have my 83' JCM800 warming up for the guitar tracks. I'll crank it loud and proud.

Couldn't imagine the path of rock music without Marshall being a part of that thread.

I use a Marshall MB450 exclusively (in performance), and I absolutely love it. I don't understand why some of y'all don't think Marshall ever did anything for bass amps.

We should all crank the volume at once, say, 10pm tomorrow (Friday), in honor of Mr. Marshall.

Rip Mr Marshall. Your guitar amps are great and some real good bass players also enjoyed your gear like Chriss Squire & Lemmy k. Your Govner overdive pedal was also a top choice for me for OD pedal for bass when I used seperates.

This is in ma sig. Needless to say, R.I.P. Jim Marshall. We will all miss you. I was fortunate enough to have my school have 4 marshall half stacks to play on (i play both guitar and bass, but mainly bass) and i absoutly loved the tone, but i couldnt get the thing to get and feedback whatsoever. Rant over, keep on rocking guys, and well all overcome this loss.

Wow... it's sad that his health deteriorated so much the last few years. That doesn't even look like him in that pic with Lemmy.

Thank you Mr Marshall, for more than just your amps, but for being the kind of person more people people should aspire to be like: hard working, generous and creative. RIP a great businessman, but also a performer and educator.


I look forward to hearing the great jams going on in the Great Beyond...

I've always loved the fact that Jimi Hendrix's middle name was, literally and truthfully, "Marshall."
I only played through a Marshall amp once. I was on the road and my Acoustic 370 developed problems... so the guitarist let me use his spare Marshall head. Not recommended for bass (unless you're Jack Bruce), but fantastic for guitar.

I used many combinations over the years.
One fave was a Marshall Major head refinished in a warm oak color on a squareback SVT. Very excellent with a Gibson EB2D. More of a chord English Prog sound than a Motown low thump.
That head on a white Marshall 4x12 100w straight front cab was delicious. I love Jim Marshall's work!!!
