RIP Johnny Winter

Back in the early 70s when I met my gf (later to be wife) her record collection consisted of Simon and Garfunkel and similar folky stuff, plus Johnny Winter "Saints and Sinners"!

Not that I have anything against S&G (in moderation) but Saints and Sinners certainly got a lot of turntable time when I was round at her place.

We grew up in the same area of Southeast Texas. My aunt who was involved with the musicians union in Orange, Texas, had a piece of notebook paper on the bulletin board in her office that he wrote on - "Guitar player needs work. Johnny Winter - (home phone)". I wanted to get it after she passed away, but they cleared out her house before I could get to it. Sorry to see him go.

Johnny Winter And Live was an early LP I owned...probably within my 1st 50 or so albums.
Loved his version of "Jumpin' Jack Flash".
Still Alive & Well & his brother's Roadwork albums were also favourites.

RIP...
