I'm sure you'll run into his friends there. The Rainbow won't be the same, but at least there are a lot of people there who knew him and loved him.

It will definitely be a strange vibe, at least at first. I know one thing: I will be having lots of shots of JD in his honour. Hope I can keep it together when I'm there...

At his spot at the Rainbow almost until the end... he may have only been diagnosed with cancer on the 26th, but I'm sure he had it for a while; certainly in this picture. It's painful to see such a powerful guy looking so frail...

This is probably the only book I'll finish reading, and then start reading it from the beginning again immediately.
I'm about 3/4 through it now.


The cashier at the liquor store said JD has been flying off the shelves. I got the last mid-sized bottle.
I'd like to attribute it to folks mourning the loss of Lemmy.

I love that book. I read it front to back on the flight to L.A. a few years ago, and then bumped into Lemmy that night at the Rainbow, and he signed it for me.

I'd be cranking out Motorhead tunes on my Ric 4001 plugged into my Lemmy sig head, but I am currently recovering from surgery to repair my torn right distal bicep tendon, and do not have the use of my right arm right now. I guarantee that the first thing I will play, once I'm healed up, will be Overkill at an obscene volume level!!

Just filling in some blanks maybe. Some of you may not be aware of a couple of albums Lemmy put out with Slim Jim Phantom of The Stray Cats and Danny B. Harvey of Lonesome Spurs & The Rockats where the band was billed as The Head Cat, or just Head Cat. Not exactly high art, but bloody good fun.

I have no Lemmy stories. I never had a chance to see them live. But I love the music he made and the music of those he inspired.
I also love reading the stories people are telling about him. That is how I want to be remembered. He seemed like a funny smart and kind person. Someone you could approach and have a real conversation or just a drink with.
I only discovered Motorhead a couple of years ago. Ace of Spades would come up in my playlist from time to time. But I never really checked out the rest of their music. I don't even remember what made me decide to, I just did one day. I loved it. It wasn't my favorite band, but I always had more and more Motorhead in my playlist.
Then I started incorporating his style into mine. Two bass lines I have written are the way I think he would have played them.
The one thing that I have noticed is that not one person has had anything bad to say about Lemmy. People that met him, people that knew him, everyone seemed to like him. They may not have been into the music, but he seemed to welcoming to everyone he met.
So, to this man, I regret I never had the chance to meet you. But I am happy to get to know you through your music and the words of others. You set an example by being a gentleman and by rocking to the end.

That's just the way it is, if you live long enough, you get frail. I'm at an age where 70 does not look super old, but Lemmy hung in there a long time considering that he was truly a hard living man and not a poser

Wonder if they'll keep that spot Reserved in perpetuity, in his honor. I think they should. Put a velvet rope around it with a little plaque explaining why. I'm really bummed that he's gone but hey, I'm sure he'd agree that he had a pretty good run. Probably the coolest rocker to have ever roamed the earth. He was the Miles Davis of rock.

There's already plenty of photos of Lemmy around in Rainbow, and there's a pretty large Snaggletooth embedded in the walkway to get into the place.
Oh, and they've got their brick in the wall out front.
