There's been an announcement that they're going to have a tribute to Lemmy at the Grammys.
That's the last thing he would have wanted IMHO. All these fake people pretending like Motorhead impacted their lives, postmortem. It's getting kind of sickening.

Although, he did indicate he would be "bigger" after his death, just like Dimebag or Randy Rhoads.

Depends on who those people are. Beyonce doing Ace Of Spades would be off putting, but an All-Star/Hybrid band of Nikki, Slash, Mikkey, Phil and Ozzy would be totally acceptable.

Nothing. In the eyes of the mass media he's a John Doe. So many known and inspiring musicians died within the last few months that they'd need a whole 2 hour tribute show.

Actually, the Grammy's are what I reference for the worst in music. What to avoid. Who is the best at being able to dupe the American public with a pretty sad definition of talent.

Would've liked to see Iggy Pop do a tribute to Bowie on the Grammy's.

At least Lemmy's son was there. The music industry needs all the help it can get.

I was wondering if anyone knew or had a link to info on Lemmy and his choice of Bass (being a Ric). He has inspired me to play a Ric. I love the look and the sound is KILLER!!! Later he had his own (limited run) signature model by Rickenbacker. Just wondering what his story was to play a Ric (besides the obvious good looks and sound). Everyone has a story, right?

I started reading his book "White Line Fever" and early in the book he mentions some of his early instruments but he never mentions when he switched to the Ric. Right now I'm around the 1984ish timeline and still no mention of the Ric.

I don't think he mentions the Thunderbird he used either.

He had the Rickenbacker as far back as Hawkwind.

You can tell it's Hawkwind, from the psychedelic amp theme.

Thank god you're back.
I'd read a long time ago that when he was hanging around with Hawkwind, before he was in the band, the bass player was always late.
Lemmy would bug them to play bass: "Le'me have a go". The bass player had a Ric, they let Lemmy have a go and they sacked the bassist and Lemmy joined and played the Ric.
Could be my withering memory, or not.
