Andy, I'm 100% sure about one issue once I can compare the Ristola to my Roscoe. We pm'ed about this when I was first looking at Brian's website....
The amp is all setup, I'll certainly post how I feel they compare.

Maybe he's related to a Finnish immigrant. That would explain the Finnish family name. Could be some other language too but Ristola is fairly common family name in Finland. Awesome basses though!

Construction/Design
Holy cr**, both fit and finish are flawless! Strapped on, no neckdive. Andy, you're right on the neck profile Brian uses. It's a flattened "C" shape and it's super comfortable. The pickup placement is slightly wider compared to my Roscoe, and the location of the bridge pickup is perfect for me. I like to play a lot over the bridge pickup, and where it's located on the Ristola, the string tension is perfect.
Tone
Ok, the most important stuff. Brian nailed the sound I wanted -with the eq set flat! I'm an older guy, and my main influences are mostly Fender playyers. I wanted my bass to have a big, punchy sound, with killer mids, and it does. I went with Brian's standard features. Bart pickups/Aguilar OBP-3 preamp, because I'm familiar with this setup and really like it. Playing over the bridge pickup the bass gets a slightly grungy sound, which I know will work really well live.
I'll post more thoughts as I put in a bit more playing time with it. I'm headed back to it right now......
Great to hear that the first impression was so positive! Let us know more of your thoughts when you get a chance D....I hear you on the back pickup. I love where it's placed. It gives you such a usable sound when panned in that direction.
If you can, give us a picture of that beauty!
Nicky & Andy, it's freakin' incredible. I've been comparing it's sound to my Roscoe SKB3006's. The Roscoe has a more refined sound, more modern. The Ristola sounds a lot more organic. It's tone is very balanced from bottom to top. And like I said earlier, it's packs a mean punch.
Maybe I'll name it: "Hagler".......

Man, I'm so happy for you.
I'm packing up my Ristola to be sent out in the morning to it's new owner. I'm having a hard time doing so as I won't have my new one until possibly May. It's going to be difficult not having such an extraordinary bass to play at all times. I have great faith that the next one is going to be really special though.....

I wouldn't go a day without a bass....although, with that said, I still haven't gotten my suped up Ibanez sixer back from it's frets getting dressed....I've got a four string but I feel anxious not to have a six string for a couple of days possibly. I'll live though.
....I just put fresh strings on the Ristola before I box it up....man, what a bass!..........my girlfriend teased me that I'd shed a tear or two while packing it up.....I have to prove her wrong.
D, I don't know what you use for strings, but be sure to try Fodera steel strings on your bass. I haven't used steels in years...been using the Fodera nickels, but man...these strings sound sooooo good. They're not as bright as other steel strings that I've tried. They really make my bass sing! This will be sent off to Kent Armstrong for him to make a molding of to make the pickups with. It has a radius on top to match the fingerboard radius of my next bass. This is going to be incredible!!!!

It's maple, but it's only going to be used to make a mold of the shape. Kent didn't have the pickup casing size that I wanted, so Jon Maghini made this casting for him. Kent will make a mold of this that he can use to make the pickup covers with. Also, by using maple for the casting the result will be a pickup cover that looks like ebony. Very cool!
