Ritter Owners Club (Part 2)

Congrats on your decision to get a Ritter bass, you will not be disappointed. I have spoken to Jens many times on Skype, but have never had the chance to visit him and talk in person, unfortunately. Maybe when I move back to Denmark one day, I will take the trip.

It's interesting to read that he didn't know about the Ritter Club here, since I have told him several times, but I do understand that his mind is more on what he's doing and not so much on who is talking about it :)

I would ask Jens to install the 13pin connector on the side; without the cable connected it might look Ok but with it, I am pretty sure that it will stand in front of the bass and it is too beatiful of an instrument to be behind a large midi cable.

I would also make sure the switches are black to give as much continuity to the backness as you possibly can.

Just a few suggestions for your consideration. Regards,

Right on, wildest....

Yep that is how Keith and I did my RCM Midi systems on both of my Roscoe's.

We did individual jacks on the first one:

And refined it a little more on the second one with a single jack plate.

But with that extreme roundover on the body, it might be a real engineering feat to get that done on the Ritter bass. Mine are both RMC Piezo only, no magnetic pickups at all.

Thanks guys! The R8 with RMC was built in 2012, so I'm afraid the pinout is already where the previous owner thought it best to be. I'm looking at a handful of R8's right now and trying to make a very informed decision that makes my boss (my wife) happy, as well as, a good choice for a first experience with Ritter.

Where I am located, the only probable way that I'll ever get to check a Ritter out is to procure one. They are much rarer than unicorns here.

This bass was made specially for my dear friend and colleague Victor Davies. It really is a fabulous instrument, just lovely to play.

Unfortunately Victor only had a few days to play it before he passed away - I still think of him every day and miss him very much. Pleased that he was able to leave this bass with his family as part of his legacy though.

Hey! No not really, my roya is active/passive but I use the option to switch between a bright and a darker sound.
My R8 is fully active but I have a control panel like a passive bass.
So no need for a passive option plus Ritter preamps are really not power consuming.
