Has anyone here played a Ritter, or lucky enough to own one? Just wondering if they play as beautiful as they look.

There are quite a few of them around.

The first that comes to mind is smperry, but I believe that Tom Bowlus just sold his.

  3. I've seen them up close a few times, but I haven't worked up the guts to pick one up up and play for fear of severe Ritter-GAS. Spending 5K or more on a bass scares me a bit.

I have one, and, yes, they do play as good as they look. There is nothing like them.

Yup. Great bass, but just not the best fit for my personal preferences.

I've played a few, and they're not for me. The necks are pretty chunky and I don't like the tone. But they are constructed well and they look nice...just not for me.

I played Tom's before he sold it. Great bass, but as Tom said, not for me. It was beautifully constructed, and had a really nice tone, but for what some of them go for, I could buy two or three Sadowsky Metros, which would fit me much better.
