rllefebv w/ Highwater Johnny 8/22/2018

Hey all,

Short follow-up gig report with Highwater Johnny playing at a regular Wednesday care facility date... Initially, I had a different (heavy care) facility on my calendar, but found out on the weekend that we were actually at a Brookdale/Avamere facility, which tends to be on the higher end of the assisted living facilities around here. This one is outside of our regular rotation, (different town), so it's our second time here...

The setup... very low-key, taking our time. We're missing the second acoustic guitar (family commitment) so Brian is sitting in on the Tele...

I went with the cigar-box bass, fDeck HPF, Fender Rumble 40 setup. Simple, solid stuff that just plain works!

I asked the folks if I could take a quick pic and they were happy to oblige. They were gracious enough to sit through a "panorama" attempt, but I kept doing something wrong and borking it! I would have been better off just taking 3 separate pics! Here's the middle "half" of the folks :D

No food pics, though we were offered some cherry tomatoes from the garden. I can't eat 'em and had my hands full of gear...

For everyone who read my less-than-stellar report about Saturday's gig, I just wanted to say that THIS is what this band is truly about! The folks were singing and enjoying everything we played, and the staff are always incredibly kind. I'm very fortunate to be able to play in these venues every couple of weeks! That was the intent of this band at the outset, though I can't fault the others for wanting to branch out a bit.

Thanks for looking!

Great concept - bet you’re loved everywhere. Why type of tunes do you play?

I don't know about "loved", but certainly appreciated! We mostly do 50s, 60s and 70s popular tunes... stuff the residents came of age with. It so nice to have them singing along!

My three piece played at assisted living, senior care and nursing home, hospice etc... the people loved the music of a live band. we played all old favorites from the 30's, 40's with some country. We play for their applause.. its a good thing your doing,, they enjoy it.

Thanks! There's a broad variety of tunes we could play that would be accepted... we really try to accommodate requests the next time we cycle through a facility. Last night, we actually winged a couple of tunes that worked out okay!

Congrats on a fine gig! Nice that you guys do that, too. As I rapidly age...I'm hoping there are some folks who do that for me!!

I'm hoping we can keep going for some time! I am by far the youngest band member... we were chatting last night, and of the 5 of us, I am the only one not to have a close family member in one of the facilities that we play... the other guys have a real connection to this type of outreach!

Thanks again for looking and sharing!!

I's say about 3/4 of them are napping when we play ... never a complaint about how loud we are... that's the good thing and also they are a captive audience. ;)

BTW, you have to watch taking pictures in some of the facilities. Hippa laws prohibit taking pictures of these people and posting them on social media. we take pictures from the back of the room.

Good point! Photo removed... We normally DO NOT take photos, although residents take them with us. Even though I asked, and folks were cooperating and waving during the attempt at panorama and subsequent single photo, not everyone may have been totally cool with appearing on the interwebz...

Hi,

This is a nice way to share your talent. Thanks for sharing your gig with us.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Thanks... these are generally fun, freewheeling affairs!!
