It's not about needing a fiver, it's about listing some music that is done a on five string. Since I just got a fiver over the weekend I would like some music to to use it to work on.

Ok. How about Pour Some Sugar on Me and Summer of 69 ( for one note Lol). I apologize for my previous comment. At times the ‘Jaco only needed 4’ sentiment runs - and I assumed this thread another. Peace bass brother.

After playing it this weekend I dont even care about picking up one of my 4s. I have six of 'em. The neck on the five is just so "right" for my hand for whatever reason that it makes playing easier even if I'm not using the B string on a song.

As soon as I picked up a five I felt exactly the same. My opinion really hasn’t changed lol!

I consider my 5 string as a cheater bass because its so easy to play and all the notes are within easy reach.
And it looks like a cool stage bass.

Yeah I was just looking for.music that is good for 5 string, and hopefully takes advantage of the B string even if you're just replacing notes on the E or A strings by playing higher on the B.

Modern gospel/praise music is all 5 string bass.

Examples such as 'Summer of 69' aren't great examples. For songs like that one or 'Uptown Funk' it's simple enough to detune my E to D. Sure it's handy to just have it available with a 5. I've owned a couple, played them for years. I just get along better with 4's and in the last ten years or so the music I play just doesn't require 5. YMMV.

Yeah I was just looking for.music that is good for 5 string, and hopefully takes advantage of the B string even if you're just replacing notes on the E or A strings by playing higher on the B.

I like utilizing the B string for some songs even if it doesn't need it.

Yep, that was the first thing I started to pick up on because I just don't know a lot of songs that go below E. They say the first 5 frets are the money frets, well on a B it's the first 12, lol. It has such a growl to it that just doesn't seem as intense on the other strings.

Yep, the authority of notes on the B string!

Straight up rock and roll? Probably not much. Modern country demands it. Fusion, prog rock, metal. Rock and roll not so much.

A 4 string in BEAD will work for a Modern Country band.
