Roger Waters is legit!

Roger was a strong influence on me in my youth, I had to learn Pigs and was lucky enough to see his show in Florida a few years back. It was strange how he never commented after a tune but people went crazy, ala Bryan Wilson. The intricacy and melodic lines and syncopation were really fun to watch (fought my way to the front). Ive seen Gilmour a couple of times but never saw them all together as Floyd...

I was just listening to the Pompeii "Echoes" in my car, on the way to work this morning, with Waters' bass BLASTING. I think his playing is so freaking great; I'll take Waters on bass, and Gilmore on guitar, thank you very much.

The guy is a musical genius, and a musical genius should be able to play some bass, for God's sake.

You know, I just can't say enough about this guy. He's basically the Andrew Lloyd Webber of the world of Stadium Rock, having graduated from being the Richard M. Nixon of Psychedelic Prog. I love how he plays bass and guitar, and piano, and I love his vocals as well. His songwriting is top-notch, especially the lyrics, and he conceptualizes like no other rocker ever did. He inspired about a zillion people to go out there and do it, and he completely admits what an ass he is.

Roger Waters is a big hero of mine, and I think anyone who dogs him has no knowledge of the true spirit of rock.

I'm still surprised people are so quick to put down Roger's playing, suggesting that Gilmour did all the studio work.

I'm a big Floyd fan. I would consider anything Gilmour said in the '80s with a big pinch of salt. He was a bitter, bloated cokehead during that era, and I imagine he was up for trashing Waters in the press.

+1

We think quite similarly, my friend.

Considering Roger wrote the lyric

"LLoyd Webbers awful stuff runs for years and years and years... An earthquake hits the theatre, but the operetta lingers. Then the piano lid falls down and breaks his f**king fingers... It's a miracle!"

Im not sure what you're trying to say.

I think he means that Roger Waters has turned the spectacle of stadium rock into a higher artform and has, in some way, become the standard bearer for the genre. :ninja:

David who? Compare the mens solo works. I know tons of guitarists that can play the "uncomfortably dumb" solo. I've yet to experience anyone else come up with the concepts that Roger had for "Pros and Cons of Hitchiking" and "Radio Koas", "Amused To Death". Roger is a genius. The music flows from him into and through any venue, instrument, recording device or bandmate that he's in close proximity of. Look at the liner notes of his recordings; all the already famous people that have appreared on them. I say "Rog is THE BEST!" and I'm so happy he's a bass player

And he's this cool. Legend.
