Roland Announces New V-Bass VB-99 !!!

On the subject of 13 pin DIN cables, does ANYONE know who might make a 13 pin cable with good solid METAL ends? Right angle even better

I've looked on various midiguitar news groups as well as generally on google and can't find a male connector with a metal cannon sleeve (maplins and digikey do some plastic sleeved male ends but they don't look particularly heavy duty)

For just right angled cables you can use the kenwood/clarion cd changer cables (just make sure all the pins are terminated though as some have 13-pin connectors but only 5 wires inside the cable):

California boy gets his VB-99 easily.

I ordered from Nevada Music in England. They shipped all the way to me in California for 40 pounds and it took just five days from when they sent it. The power supply works fine. The system is great and I don't think I paid much more than I would have paid when it's sold here whenever Roland gets around to it.

I'm in California and I ordered the Roland VB-99, received it by mail in 5 days. I ordered it from Nevada Music in England. They charged 40 pounds for shipping (another supplier offered to ship for 280 pounds). The British power supply is the same as the US power supply except for the the part that plugs into the wall which you probably have around the house, it's a standard cord. Judging from current US prices for the VG-99, I don't think I ended up paying much of a premium to get it. If you're stateside and eager, come on in the water's fine.

Day one. I'm very impressed with the VB-99. When the V-bass came out I thought it would maybe be the end of analog bass tweaking. It wasn't quite. I've spent much of the last 10 years on a quest for satisfying sounds. I think I can sell most of my basses. This thing has the range and fidelity to do everything I want. As more of us get the units and get a bass or two set up I hope there can be more exchange about sound shaping itself. I'm new to it, enjoying the stock sounds and the downloadable set of roughly 50, but any tips on tricks for generating something above and beyond and any trading of sounds you've developed would be welcome. And sorry for posting twice yesterday about having gotten one in California. Excited or spaced.

Then another thought to bring in:
The midi cable, eh, (edit) I mean the 13 pin cable (end edit) isn't thrustworthy during live gigs. Perhaps because I cannot stand still when playing..... On all evenings I got trouble with the cable and need to fall back on the strong and sturdy 1/4" jacks. Inbetween songs mostly I manage to get all the parallel signals back again.

Does anyone have a solution for this one?

Loop the cable through your strap ;)
then plug it into the bass!
