Roscoe Beck IV Discontinued?

I was drooling over the 50th anniversary Jazz at Fender's website, and realized that the Roscoe Beck IV is no longer on the product list.

Has anyone heard or know anything?
If Fender is actually dropping the RBIV, I wonder what the reason would be. Poor sales?

Luckily I bought mine in lakeplacid blue with matching headstock in 08.

Hope they bring it back someday with some updates.
I'd personally like to have one with a full sized body, 20 frets, and with a wider and chunkier p style neck.;)

Fender never cease to amaze me. They and Roscoe come up with what is probably the most versatile Fender bass guitar EVER, then don't bother to advertise it as extensively as they should have done, so it doesn't sell in huge numbers and then they cancel it.

Idiots.

EDIT: Hope Roscoe has the good sense to take his design and ideas elsewhere, to luthiers who'd appreciate them, like Fodera or Carey Nordstrand.

I was always pretty intrigued by this bass, I really wanted one back in my punk days (despite not knowing who the hell the guy is) when I was wanting to get a decent bass for the first time, something about it looked very cool, probably it being a P and J hybrid and being something a bit different looking from and average Fender bass. Has anyone got any decent clips of all the pickups playing at the same time? Bet it sounds pretty interesting.

This sounds like you are talking about the Stu Hamm model.
