I’m in the opposite position. I could deal with the standard 18.3 bridge spacing but the nut width is more important for me. I really need that extra 1/8” to feel comfortable for my fat fingers. I’ve had to sell quite a few really nice basses because I could not deal with the tighter nut widths over time. So for a bass to be a keeper for me, it’s 19 mm plus a 1-7/8” nut.I have the same issues with 19mm spacing on 5 & 6 string basses. On a traditional Roscoe with the 19mm Hipshot bridge you can adjust the spacing to 18mm spacing but you still have to deal with the ~1/8 wider neck. I doubt that the Hipshot headless bridge has the adjustment for string spacing but if it does that might help some.
To me, it’s not the 18mm spacing that bothers me, it’s the extra width of the neck. All my 4 strings are 19mm and I love them.
The 35” scale doesn’t really bother me. I believe that I prefer the sound of the G and D string on a 34” scale but that could be more related to the specific bass (than the scale). So many factors to consider.
