I have a 1998 LG-3005, fretted, Spanish cedar body, burl top. It's my only bass, and I have been playing it for the past 15 years in a church setting. I am thinking about buying another Roscoe ... either a Standard SKB or Century, perhaps a Standard Plus. I am looking at the Bartolini J-style pickups, leaning towards the JB position (due to the look) but the 60's position is also an option.

How different will the sound be (JB position and 60's position) from what I currently have? Also, how would the Aguilar JJ pickups and OB-1 preamp differ from the Bartolini JJ pickup/preamp configuration?

Our band did a gig last night and I pretty much played the whole second set with my Roscoe. I can't get over how good this bass plays and sounds!

I can't tell you how much I resemble that comment. I am so in love with my Century 5. I have even been trying to sell off all of my gear that is now excess.

I am also in a transition in one of my bands where I am really over it whole idea of being in that band and going to the gigs is a drag...and I find myself totally into the gig again because I enjoy playing my Roscoe so much that I am in my own little world. The tone and playability on these basses are like NOTHING I have ever experienced before.
